Easy Last Minute Mother Goose Halloween Costume Ideas For Couples
Sick of dressing up like a witch, ghost or vampire every Halloween? Why not pick up a little silly this time? Couples scurrying for last minute costume ideas can remove a hint from Mother Goose and emulate one of her famous rhymes. All these Mother Goose couples Halloween Costumes can be done quickly and easily. Just pop on some fitting clothes, cardboard or a trash bag and paint your face accordingly.
Little Miss Muffet and the Spider
Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet. I’m not sure what a tuffett is but I have a good idea what little Miss Muffett was wearing. Search the back of your closet for that poofy dress you wore in the eighties. Couple it with some white leggings to duplicate the pantaloons of Miss Muffet. Curl your hair into ringlets and add ribbons. Dab on some rosy cheeks. Make a bowl of curds and whey by gluing chunks of Styrofoam into a plastic bowl.
Now for the other half of this Mother Goose Halloween costume. The spider is pretty simple. Your couples costume partner can wear a long sleeved black shirt and black pants for this one. Add a some extra legs by stuffing black stockings and pinning them to your partners shirt. A large black trash bag with holes cut for arms and legs serves as the spiders body. It gets stuffed with poly-fill or a blanket to round it out. Tie it together at the neck. Paint your partner’s face black.
The Dish and the Spoon
This is probably one of the simplest last microscopic Mother Goose Halloween couples Costumes there is. Cut a super-sized plate and spoon from a large part of poster board. Spray paint them silver for a metallic view. For comedy effect, dress in leotards and tights. Pin the poster board spoon to the front of one costume and the dish to the front of the other. Paint your faces white and draw on surprised looks by making O shapes around your mouths with black make up and drawing eyebrows that curve up in the middle.
Jack and Jill
According to Mother Goose, Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack was wearing long socks, dress shoes and knickers. You can glue buckles to the tops of some obsolete dress shoes. Knickers can be made by cutting off some old pants and ripping strips you can tie together objective below the knees. Jack can wear a dress shirt and bow tie to complete his last minute Halloween costume.
Little girls in the Mother Goose era most often wore frilly dresses and pantaloons. So dig out that eighties Cindy Lauper dress again and pair it with some white leggings. Jills shoes were likely lace up boots or shiny patent leather in white. Don’t forget the reason this couple is going up the hill on Halloween. Have Jill carry a metal or wooden bucket to fetch that water in.
Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee
This last minute Halloween costume from Mother Goose should regain more than a few laughs from friends and family. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee were chubby twin characters. Couples dress alike with oversized white dress shirts and pants. Shoes should look alike too. Both wear suspenders. Stuff shirt and pants to represent the round middles of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. Create white faces with make-up. Draw details on faces with red and black face paint crayons. Carry giant lollipops or rattles for an added touch.
Little Bo Peep and Little Boy Blue
This couple were never paired up in a Mother Goose Rhyme but they were both tending sheep. Little Boy Blue was sleeping on the job and Bo Peep lost track of hers. Once again, get out that frilly eighties dress and leggings for Bo Perceive. Style her hair in ringlets. Diminutive Boy Blue was dressed in overalls with a straw hat and bare feet. As props for this last minute Halloween costume, give Bo Peep a staff and Little Boy Blue a horn to blow.
