Work-appropriate Halloween Costumes
Halloween isn’t just for kids anymore. Adults love to dress up and a lot of jobs are allowing their employees to show up in Halloween costumes. It’s a fun way to speed the monotony of work and have a little fun! Here are some ideas for work-appropriate Halloween costumes this year.
Avoid anything with the words Sexy or Slutty.
You might look great as a sexy nurse, but I doubt your boss will deem this appropriate especially if you work somewhere with customers or clients. Going as a nurse is impartial fine, but button up your top and lower your skirt a little.
Dress comfortably!
Unless your job is throwing a Halloween party the Friday before Halloween and you won’t have to do a bit of work all day, then by all means wear the banana suit. But you might want to think ahead about using your arms, hands and feet. Not to mention being able to talk through the costume. Nothing that covers your face and wear clothing that helps you go freely.
Back in the Day
Pick your favorite decade and dress accordingly. For the 50′s decide from poodle skirts, marilyn monroe dresses, and greaser jackets. If you like the 60′s and 70′s you can easily throw on a pair of bell bottoms and big wig, with some bright and hip colors. If you’re an 80′s fan, go for mesh shirts, neon tights or hammer pants.
Animal Costumes
I would avoid dressing up as an animal since most of these will cover your head completely. Unless you want to wear black and kitty ears it’s going to be hard to work and go as an animal.
Pirates, Vampires and Cave People
These are all simple to do and you can find the costumes at practically any Halloween super store around. Most of them are work-appropriate and comfortable to wear. Just be aware of the skirts on some of the Female Pirate costumes!
Renaissance Costumes
These are another classic costume that is really easy to find! You can find costumes to be a jester, peasant, prince or princess, wizard or viking.
Characters and Celebrities
What I explore more and more is celebrity costumes or characters from TV and movies. This year Lady Gaga is one of the most popular Halloween costumes, but it won’t be easy to work in anything she would wear! I would go more for characters like Shrek, Harry Potter, Vampires, Napoleon Dynamite or Austin Powers.
More Ideas
Witches, Wizards, Fairies, Ghosts and Goblins all work tremendous for workplace Halloween Costumes!
Say No to Pimp and Ho
I wouldn’t even attempt to go to work in a Pimp or Ho costume. They are crazy fun for parties but really not appropriate at your site of employment. Stick to the classics!
